Getting Started
What is LabSkills?
LabSkills is an organizational operating system that makes roles, skills, processes, and behaviors visible and actionable. Instead of guessing who can do what, what prerequisites are in place, or whether the right person is in the right role, teams get a clear, living system — connected, documented, and built to grow with the organization.
Who is LabSkills for?
LabSkills is built for growing organizations that need clarity at scale such as labs, agencies, startups, and mid-sized companies where roles evolve, processes multiply, and keeping everyone aligned becomes harder as you grow.
What problems does LabSkills solve?
LabSkills solves the chaos that comes with growth: unclear responsibilities, outdated processes, hidden skill gaps, and teams working in silos. It turns organizational complexity into operational clarity.
How is LabSkills different from traditional HR tools?
Traditional HR tools track people. LabSkills tracks how work actually happens: connecting skills, roles, and processes in real time. It’s not just about who’s employed; it’s about who does what, how, and why.
Is technical knowledge needed to use LabSkills?
No. LabSkills is designed to be intuitive. If you can use a spreadsheet or project management tool, you can use LabSkills. Setup is guided, and our support team is always available.
Is LabSkills suitable for small teams or only large organizations?
LabSkills works for teams of all sizes. Small teams use it to build clarity early. Larger organizations use it to maintain clarity as they scale. The system adapts to your size.
Is it possible to try LabSkills before committing to a paid plan?
Yes. We offer a free forever plan so you can explore the platform, set up your first roles and processes, and see how LabSkills fits your organization.
CORE CONCEPTS
What is a role in LabSkills?
A role is a set of responsibilities and required skills. It’s not just a job title—it’s a clear definition of what someone does and what they need to know to do it well.
What is a process in LabSkills?
A process is a structured way work gets done. It shows the steps, who’s involved, what skills are needed, and where handoffs happen. Processes in LabSkills stay current because they’re connected to real roles and skills.
How are skills, roles, and processes connected?
Skills belong to people. Roles require skills. Processes involve roles. Everything is connected, so when you update one thing, the system reflects how it impacts everything else.
How does LabSkills reflect real work instead of org charts?
Org charts show hierarchy. LabSkills shows how the work flows. who collaborates with whom, which skills are involved, and where bottlenecks or gaps exist. It’s structure that matches reality.
